Does anybody know if Frosty's dual boot vga requires a fully assembled DVD drive to work.

I know that on a normal softmod you can break down the dvd drive down to the chip board, removing all of the mechanical parts and fool the xbox motherboard on bootup.

Running Xbox W/O DVD Drive

For some reason after installing Frosty's dual boot vga, and doing the DVD hack, it will no longer boot. I had to fully assemble the drive in order for it to work. I'm not sure what that program is checking for.

Any ideas....

The credits of Frosty's vga softmod mentions UDE2 so I assume it uses this font exploit.

Ndure + Nkpatcher have vga support too. See this: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=656831 and http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=664672

You might have better luck with the dvd drive hack then. But I cannot guarantee it though since I have no idea why Frosty's mod behaves that way.

Ok thx.

After reading the threads it seems like Frosty's install is a little cleaner and easier to apply.

I've never tried the NDURE or NKPatcher. I guess i'll attempt it one of these days and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply.
