I want to know if i hAVE A 5 volt power supply and need 7 can i add a 1.5 volt battery to increase it. If this doesnt work what would.

if you need to get the 7 from the xbox. i belive you can bridge the 12+5 volt lines to get 7. not sure were i saw that. but i belive it works.
might want to wait for conformation from someone

so wire the positive from whatever you need to power to the 12v and ground it to the 5 volt ground

don't ground to the 5v ground, ground to the 5v positive... the 5v ground and the 12v ground are the same. so wire your positive to the 12v+, and your ground to the 5v+, and that'll give you 12-5=7v.

Course you're still better off using a voltage regulator as shown in that link.
