My Virus Protector keep popping this warning message up.

Does anybody know what the hell this is?

I've had this thing pop up in the past but only for a week or so then it stops, now its been bothering me for about a month and it's pissing me off.

BTW... I only get the message when the computer is idle.

Your virus protection doesn't like the fact that you have a port open in order to use the IRC channel.

Can't remember what the fix is but I saw this on either this board or another and its supposedly a real simple fix.

for future reference: goto www.norton.com & do a search on the virus. in this case "Backdoor.Sdbot" will get you this:

"Open port", my ass, unless you think the definition of an open port is a Trojan that lets the infector use your computer for remote tasks. tongue.gif

I can never log into DALnet anymore because it says "Closing Link: 0.0.0.0 (You match the pattern of a known trojan, please check your system.)"

Who knows....

Since this virus is in the restore you will have to disable the restore function and then let your virus checker remove it,If you restore feature is enabled like your is then no virus check on this planet can remove it as the restore feature is protected by this bullshit windows XP!

Moral of the story, never check the option for automatic regular backup for the "Restore" function... use it only after a clean install of the OS and essential programs.

Thanks for your help guys.

So let me get this straight. Would this virus cause my computer to turn off and shit?
Cuz I'd been havin that problem.
I'd leave my house and my computer would be on. But when I got back home it would be off. I found this weird but I thought it was something wrong with my hardware.

Anyways, I have disabled System Restore and am running the virus protector. Hopefully that will fix it.
