I was wondering if anything can be done to sharpen and add clarity to the port of SMW (Super Mario War)

http://smw.72dpiarmy.com/

The Xbox port lacks clarity and yet the graphics are ripped from NES-SNES games.

Can someone point me to source code that might help?

Turn the flicker filter off if that is a supported option.

There is nothing you can do to improve the graphic quality if the authors don't support Flicker Filter. If the port is loading the graphics from a folder, then you could replace the graphics with higher resolution ones.

That would help

If there is a way that you could run the game through Scale2x, not sure exactly how you'd do it though.

You'd have to take the images used for the game.

And then:

1) Convert them to png format
2)Run them through the scalex program (at 2x, 3x, or 4x)
3) Convert them back to bmp format and copy the new ones over the old ones. They might need to be resized to match the original resolutions.

Here is an example:

Before:

After (Scale4x):

Hi, I'm one of the devs on the project. We use SDLx to do the graphics and the problem arises when using the SDL_XBOX_SetScreenPosition() and SDL_XBOX_SetScreenStretch() functions. I was told that the mednafen-nes port to xbox uses SDL and has crystal clear resolution when sizing for the screen and I'm interested on how they did this. You wouldn't happen to know where I could find their xbox source, would you?

It hasn't been released but you might want to send Xport a PM to ask him about how it was done.
