I have to install a duo x2 gs cromwell bios edition chip into an xbox version 1.0. Im doing it for my friend and this is the chip he ordered and gave to me to use. The chip is soldered in all of the places it should be. The bt point is soldered in correctly and works since pressing eject button does MS bios and pressing power tries to boot from the chip. I think however that the D0 point is not soldered correctly. I have tried to use the alternate D0 point, butit still didn't boot. Upon starting the chip up it flash red once and the fans wind up then it turns off, it does this a second time, then on the third time it finally tries to boot a bios from the chip. It does not boot from either of the bios banks. After the system tries to boot from the chip on the third wind up the power led on the front of the xbox blinks green and red. I can here the hard drive and dvd drive trying to do something, but they don't do anything. This whole time the television screen is blacked out.

I also have a question about burning the bios disc. I have created a dummy disc and put a BIOS.BIN on the disc to. The bios was the Xecuter x2 4983.67 bios, 512k version. I read somewhere that i need a .ini file to go along with it. Im not sure how to do that either. If someone could give me answers to the problems im facing that would be amazing. Thanx in advance!

No ini or other files are needed for an X2.49xx bios. Only the 50xx series, and even then only for customization (commonly used, but it will function without).

You are not at the satge yet where you can flash this. the problem you describe is caused by bad soldering/installation to the LPC. If you have a V1 and removed solder from the LPC to fit a pinheader, this can also be a source of damage to the LPC. Pictures may help
