Hi,

I would like to know if it's possible to use the PSU from an old XBOX1 to power on the lite-on drive? It appears to have the same type of connector, but on the XBOX1 connector, it has used up all 12 of connection pins, while on the XBOX360 connector, only 10 of the connection pins are used (even tho the liteon connection does accomodate 12 pins)? I don't want to fry the drive!

Any help is appreciated.

No !! Don't connect , you will blow your drive down the toilet!!!!!!
Just use the 360 itself.....

^Is this confirmed? I get the feeling you're just assuming it would... if it uses 2 extra pins like the OP said, could you just cut the 2 wires and be able to use it? If not can someone explain why?

I don't know for sure but I've never heard of anyone using an Xbox 1 to power it. The risk you run is that though it fits, the pins may not carry the same voltage/signal on them. It could be wired differently. You don't want to put positive current where a ground goes, etc. That's a really quick way to kill a drive.

Why risk it? Just use another 360 or get a connectivity kit.

If you're really curious, then look for a schematic of the xbox 1 power connector. Then find one for the Xbox 360 and compare them.

Fried drive time if you mix them up!

That's a shame... I figured it was too good to be true.

At least I can still use the cable with a 360 mobo though
