I am having trouble networking the xbox. It wont connect in the MSDash, and it wont connect in Evox either. I have tried every kind of configuration but it just wont connect. In MSDash it always tells me to check my IP Address but it is fine because I used it for my other xbox and it worked like a charm and I could also FTP my other xbox. The ethernet lights in the back are lighted and it finds the cable but it never wants to connect. I have a set IP for it and it says it found the line. But it wont connect. It says the gateway could not be found. I have tried power cycling the Linksys WRT54G router and the modem and still nothing.
Heres my configuration for the xbox: IP: 192.168.1.50 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 DNS: Automatic My service is Comcast so PPPOE is not required nor Advanced. --------------------------------------------------------------- I also tried DMZ hosting on 192.168.1.50 and still no luck! By now it would have already worked with my other xbox. Any ideas? PS: I still have error 21 and I dont know why anymore. |

Have you tried enabling DHCP on your XBox to see if it can draw an IP from the router? If the router doesn't see it then maybe you have a bad cable or bad port on the router or the XBox itself (hopefully not). Try DHCP, different cables, and a different port on the router to see if any of those fix the problem.

How do you enable DCHP on the xbox? All i can find is Static Ip and Setup Network! But, its not the router or cable or the plug in the back of the xbox cause it finds the cable is connected but it just cant configure the IP's right. Wheres DCHP on the xbox?

You cant FTP to the M$ dash as it doesnt have a FTP engine, in evox you set Static=No in the evox.ini for DHCP, you should then be able to FTP to the assigned IP.

How would I change it if I were running evox of of a cd-rw? I can't write cause its not on the hdd. Should I make another Slayers disk and edit the evox.ini file to say no static ip and then would i leave IP, subnet mask, Default gateway, and DNS blank?
EDIT: I used my UXE softmod and loaded it on the MSDash, using Mechassault, when it goes to the Unleash X screen i have options to choose my IP and SAVE it. So i used that. I switched it to DHCP and restarted to save like it told me to. I came back and now it gave me the ip of 0.0.0.0 which I know is impossible to have because the first and last number cannot be 0 EVER! It did give me a MAC address but that doesnt really help me. When it is on static IP, it shows that it is linked and everything. But for this DHCP, it gave me a bad IP and it doesnt work. Im gonna keep tampering around with the settings. More help is appreciated! EDIT2: I installed Unleash X as my second dash, (cause i have a chip with evox!) I thought i would be missing something in my C: folder. heres the files: Audio backup fonts Skin Trainers xboxdashdata.185ead00 xodash XBox Book.xtf Xbox.xtf xboxdash.xbe And each directory has all its files. Im just wondering if its a specific .xbe or .xtf that is corrupted and wont let me connect using an ethernet cable. Ideas? This post has been edited by cTTbLaKeMAn: Dec 18 2005, 03:13 PM |

Are you sure the default gateway address of your router is 192.x.1.1 ? as some routers tend to avoid the 1.1 prefix and opt for the 2.1 instead, if this is the case it would mean the pc and xbox where on seperate lan segments.

Im positive dude, i have had this router for almost 3 years, and I can still go to 192.168.1.1 and access the controls. Its wierd cause the xbox sees the cable but it just cant get an IP. Both the green and amber lan lights are on in the back. I have never even seen or heard this one before. Any more ideas? This is very very much appreciated from you guys!
