My first slimbox! shaved all the fins off the box and painted with Duplicolor gunmetal. made a custom power button out of plexi so it would light up the entire thing while on. no lights yet, but they should get here tomorrow or early next week and will be purple (uv). pics of lights will follow as soon as they are installed smile.gif

DUDE! Thats the same thing I was doing to my slimbox except that I had windows, its good to see how nice it looks when its finished. I like the power button, looks just like the one I made about a year ago. Did you use the middle part of a cd case for the inside of the button? Here's what mine looked like:

You did a great job beerchug.gif

Normally I don;t like the smooth boxes, but sanding down the fins insetad of filling them gives the box a sharp look to it. In fact, its awesome. And such a smooth paint job. Excellent work. Also, your first slim you say? Looks like everything lines up great. Props!

thanks for all the nice replies, I really appreciate them smile.gif

@poo87:
I just made my button out of some plexi I had laying around, then frosted it. I now longer have the diffuser around it either, it's just one big button (and it looks awesome when it's on)

@r_one_oh_seven:
I used a metal brush attachment for my dremel to do the majority of the work for the fins, then went back and sanded everything down even with low grit sandpaper, and increased the grit until it was all smooth. later, I went back and used glazing/spot putty to fill any scratches I made. wink.gif

thanks again folks!

Dude, that is flat-out SEXY!

I'm not even a fan of slims myself, but wow, that is THE BEST slim I have ever seen, and that paint-work is gorgeous.

Yeah it does:

Are you going to light up everything(side vents, underglow, fan, etc.) or just the jewel and power button?

might do some side glow and fan, since I use a 60mm evercool fan that was previously in my 360 and I removed the lights. but it would be easy to put in my new purple ones once they get here.
