They meant to say that Halo 3 will come out within a year of the Xbox 360 launch.

Do the math, is coming out at the same time the PS3 and Revolution will both launch....

did he say "within a year", or "within the year", big difference.  if he says "within a year" and it launches nov 05, then that covers until nov 06.  if he said "within the year", thats a different story.  i dont recall what was said personally.
*

"within the year" & "slated for 2005" are the actual quotes from Game Reactor magazine. PREVIOUSLY it had been said to expect it a year or less from launch. i was expecting 12 months or so for a nov 2006 release. I like the idea of the fiscal year...but that would only give an extra 3 months. still makes it pretty hard to believe. maybe they really were in fact developing 2 & 3 simultaneously as was rumored, hence the lack of closure with the ending. It would make sense, seeing how long it took for them to develop 2, and since they have been working with the 360 for a while. Halo was an xbox launch title and maybe they wanted some sort of halo game for the 360 launch so they essentially made one really large story and cut it into 2 parts so they would have a halo game close to the 360 launch. think about it....

ya i definitely agree

i personally have never finished the halo 2 campaign because i only play live, but i've heard from people that the ending sucked and their should have been more.

that might have been bungie getting ready and already having a jump start on halo 3 for the xbox 360 launch

they have 6 more months, and if they have been secretly working on it for a while already, they should be able to have it pumped out by then

even though its been stated that halo3 WILL NOT be a launch title? they wouldnt keep that secret... why would they do so much marketing for halo2, then abs nothing for halo3 for a launch of the new system?

I never said anything about it being a launch title, read what i said more closely. It would be a christmas release. And, oh yeah, i wouldnt expect marketing for halo 3 before the unveiling of the platform it will be on, that, you know, HAPPENED YESTERDAY. Im not saying i think its likely, im just saying that your argument is invalid. i think this misunderstanding will be cleared up at E3...im expecting that halo3 is still slated for nov 2006 and that an enhanced halo 2 will be released in 2005. Cant have an xbox system without a halo game, ya know...

lol this bitch is CRAZY

halo is the xbox's flagship series. you wont have the new xbox system without halo for more than a year. I dont care if it is all stick figures atari 2600 style, it will be out within a year.

Halo 3 as a launch title would be good. I'm thinking that it might be a E3 announcment.

According to the most recent "Weekly What's-Update:"

QUOTE
Now that the 360 has been unveiled, are you guys going to unveil Halo 3 for Xbox 360?

We're quite some time away from announcing what our next game is and for which platform. We'll tell you when we're ready to talk about it. The 360 looks sweet though.

Looks like they're trying to put some distance between the 360 hype and a committed delivery date for the next Halo Title. sad.gif Oh well... maybe we'll hear something at E3, but I have my doubts.

I'm still sticking to my theory that Halo was never supposed to be a trilogy, that Halo 2 was the end, but M$ got greedy. They made Bungie push out another game for the money, and told them to save the good game (Halo 3) for 360. The whole 'you can't have an xbox without a Halo game' thing is overused, but I guess it's kinda true, people just expect it.

I can't remember where I heard it, I think it was one of the interviews on IGN or something but the reason Halo2 took so long is they made the engine and started the graphics side of things before realising that it was too much for the Xbox 1 to handle.

I think they must have a lot of the groundwork for Halo 3 in place, if you look at the 'screen shots' on the Bungie site, they are all Hi-Res. A lot higher than the measily 640x480 resolution that the Xbox 1 can produce. Why else would you develop something at such a high-res if the 360 wasn't in mind?
