Hi All
I have a problem linking to the original MSdash I modded my xbox with executr2.3 lit, no problem I created Evox boot disk, and booted Evox I backed up C: and E: to a cd I copied evoxdash.xbe, evox.ini and skins to xbox c drive renamed xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe renamed evoxdash.xbe to xboxdash.xbe Great everything worked Evox now boots from hard drive But if I try to launch msdash from evox menu it shows the evox logo then just goes back to the evox menu I checked evox.ini and it def has under root Item "MS Dashboard",ID_MS_Dash I treid removing all the evox files and renaming msxboxdash back to xboxdash But when it boots it says Code 21 non specified error The cd I backed up c and e to is corrupted so I can't restore. I still have a fully working system with evox, but how can I restore msdash? |

two things that come to mind. try running the application directly
i dont think evox ID_MS_DASH will load anythign other then the orginal name (think) if you ahve a 'xbox installer disk' you can jsut reinstall the msft dash on the c$ and take care of that... also with your bios you shouldnt need to rename evox to anything i think the generic bios from x2 has a load of evox.xbe before xboxdash.xbe (otherwords you dont need to rename anything) try either of them 2 out and see where you go |

What BIOS version are you running? Recent X2 BIOSes have a failsafe built in that won't allow them to load MS Dash. This is to prevent using Xbox Live while the chip is enabled.

Also, you should always leave your MS Dash named "xboxdash.xbe" as there is no reason to rename it. Renaming it will only cause the Xbox to produce an error message when booting with the chip disabled. The boot order on recent chips is also such that it will boot alternative dashboards before MS Dash. |

Hi me again
Ok I renamed xboxdash back to evoxdash and renamed msxboxdash back to xboxdash You are right Evox still booted but this time if I try to link to msdash it comes back with the code 21 error Before I loaded evox the msdash came up with the Xecutor enabled or disabled All I did was copy the basic evox files to c: and renamed xboxdash Shouldn't reversing this process have restored it? |

As I stated before, there is a failsafe in later X2 BIOSes to prevent loading the MS Dash with the chip enabled. What BIOS are you running? Does it boot up okay with the chip disabled? |

I said earlier that msdash booted fine wether the chip was enabled or not, until i loaded evox
If I disable the chip I still get the 21 error If i enable the chip and link to msdash from evox I get the 21 error If i take all the evox files off the c:drive and try to boot msdash directly I get the 21 error |
