Got that same 0030 code. The system powers up the fans shut off the power brick goes amber and no video, can't even eject. I have used 4 different power bricks and still the same error. I have searched for broken traces between the ram chips and the gpu and I have added quick silver to the cpu and gpu and heat dispensing pads to the ram chips. No go even after heat gun trick. 0030 = totally f'ed up grr.gif

E74: There is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In rare cases it is a problem with the GPU.

What causes the E74 error exactly? Excess heat? My 360 was in an open area. Or is it a design flaw by Microsoft?

Thanks in advance (i'm writing an angry letter laugh.gif)

haha ummm can someone explain this error code to me.....0223 ive searched for awhile and have yet to find anybody with the same error? I get it about 8 out of 10 times i turn my 360 on..... it takes awhile for the 3 RROL to show up though, sometimes it takes 5 minutes to show up. Until then it just sits there with no picture no sound and the controller doesnt sync. Once the 360 is on it plays fine with no problems or errors uhh.gif

I got the 0020 code. NO it's not overheating btw. I had it in a well-ventilated area and even a fan behind the vent (not an intercooler) grr.gif this sucks, 1 month without live or halo 3 or anything... this sucks a LOT grr.gif

ERROR CODE 0020 VICTIMS:

I think that it is GPU related i fixed a 360 the other day by replacing the xclamps and i got this code. Turns out i had the heat sink too tight against the GPU, once i loosended it worked perfect (i use 1 lock washer under each leg). Tested for over an hour.

secondary error code 1000 is listed as still not known.

I got this error right after my drive stopped reading disks.

Next thing you know my drive wont open and i get an E64 error with 1000 code. So it's something DVD drive related, but not sure exact cause. I did find however that when i smacked the front of the drive hard after getting pissed at it, everything worked fine for the a day before it went bad again...

And all this on my Halo Edition 360...

I really wanted to try the heatgun trick so badly but I didn't have a heat gun and I don't have a credit card so I couldn't buy one off ebay...So I used one of those little torches that are meant for burning the top of creme brulee...and it worked magnificently.

Error E72 with 0022

I believe this error is caused by the HYNIX Flash. While testing my connections for a dual kernal system, I booted with the CE pin conected by DPDT switch. After a normal boot, I tested with it disconected. This gave me 3RL and error 0022. I turned off the system, fliped the switch, booted up to error E72 (which I thought was odd.) I turned the system off and waited 10 sec to make sure it was completley down. Turned back on to a normal boot up.

Sorry, missed something. When started with CE disconected, I get 3RL with 0022. 1st boot after switch is flipped gives E72 with error 1020. Next boot is perfectly normal.

Definately GPU related - I had 0020 - and when I opened my box up, I turns out that one of the T8 screws holding the xclamp on was loose. A quick tighten and all is well. Tested for 10 hours game time then, turn off and cool down, then another 10 hours game time etc.

Phew, an expensive brick avoided and the kids happy smile.gif

damn it error 0020 grr.gif No video. has anyone had success fixing this code with the x-clamp method or should I bother? Only thing I did to console was some talismoon fans and we had some pretty bad electrical storms the other night the only thing I can really think would be the problem.

X Clamp method fixes it, as it is a GPU related problem. I had it recently, played a bit with the screws of the X Clamps, went to 102, and I just tightened a bit the screws, overheated... and it works =P

hi all

I have a question, I have replaced the x-clamps and I am now getting the 0020 error, as opposed to the 3 lights that I originally had.

After reading on here it seems that I may have tightned them a bit tight, so I will try losing them when i get home tonight, the problem I have is that I have used M6 fibre washers and they seem to be covering the wholes that the smallest of the torgue screws go into, is this going to cause me further problems?

Thanks
Col
