Im going to be up front when I tell you I know SHIT about Linux. The doesnt meen Im a PC or console newbie by any means, just little to no knowledge on this OS. By problem is that I have a 40 gig HDD installed on my xbox and want a way to be able to play emulators and backups on a larger partition. Since Mandrake 9 uses the F drive I am stuck with the small E drive for my xbox applications. A few things Ive noted is that BOXPlorer will read the F drive, write to it, and run applications in it. Yet, it does not see the linux files, nor will Evo-x see the F partition. I would like to increase the E partition to a good size or install debian instead of linux.
Now here is where the newbie question comes in. I dont know anything about how the interface works with linux but I used KDE and GNOME a bit. With Debian, is it possible to use these GUIs? I want it to be user friendly for the most part. I read from the posts that Debian is more difficult to use. Is that meaning at its core, installation, operation, or what?
Does Debian support everything the mandrake release does including sound, etc. Thanks.
