I am getting LED fans, and my plan was, because I have never soldered on anything and I dont want to begin with my motherboard, to de solder the fan LED's and attach them to wires, and place them about my case.

I thought this would be like lights with none of the risk of soldering them to the motherboard.
2 Questions--

1. How much less powerfull are LED fans? Will it make a huge difference? Should I do the mod were you apply better cooling gel stuff between the heatsink and the procesor?

2. Can you desolder LED's from the fan?

Thanks

If you havent purchased the LED fans then these may help...these are the ones I bought.

They have better air throughput than the stock fans, fit in the same space with the normal connector (no soldering) and are quieter. If you are after blue LED's then some of these would eliminate the need to solder anything.

My advice would be to add some Arctic Silver 5 heat paste but that depends on if you are experienced enough (in your own mind) to take the heat sinks etc off and then change the paste and put it all back again.
It probably would only help a small ammount but my view is that while ur case is open you might as well do it properly.
