I have a MXIC chip and it looks simple to just cut the trace and use a 10 ohm resistor. I have check the continuity and the trace is broken but I cant get it to unlock....any tips?

The cut just makes the attack on the spi more local,
make sure you havent cut the track along side also, thats common,
sometimes you may need slightly smaller may be 5 ohm or larger
it all depends on what you are using to power the drive
and hitting the sweet spot for the mxic chip, sub 2v irrc.
