Hi folk's

I've just flashed a V47 hitachi that I'd done previously. The drive was having issues so I reverted it back to stock using firmware toolbox 4.6. Tested it and it booted originals fine but no backups. I then hooked it back up to my pc and flashed it again. All the way through the flash process I got error after error after error and then the drive dissapeared from windows. Now it has the E64 error and a flashinf red lower right light when the sata is connected to the 360 itself. When it's not connected to the 360's sata port the center green light just flashes as if it's in mode b constantly but windows will not see it no matter what I try. Is it fucked or what? huh.gif

Luckily I have the key. I also have a friend with a broken already flashed 360 with an identicle drive so he's going to bring it to me later. What's the best way to go about it though? Just flash the key or dump the firmware from the 'new' drive change the key and then reflash?

Probably safer just to flash the key right?

Well that went well. First of all I wasn't able to flash just the key on the new drive so I had to revert it back to a stock firmware after injecting the key into it. All went well, tested it our. Flashed the drive again and this time it went through swimmingly until the second last sector which it could not verify and the same for the last one.

2 dead drives now. E64

EDIT: actually, the 360 boots. No E64 error. It just won't eject or read the dvd that's in the drive.

Ok guys, I'm going to go at it again. This time I want it all to go smoothly. Could this be an issue with Vista and firmware toolbox that's causing the issues that ive been experiencing?

Never used vista, so can't help with that one. Not heard of it before though.

Avoid the cross wire trick. Seen too many people fry their drives doing this.

The cross wire trick had nothing to do with the bad flashes. The drives were both in mode b fine and visible in windows Vista. I could dump and restore original firmware but on both drives the patch failed. I installed XP on a spare drive and got a new hitachi for cheap, flashed it no problem so everything is fine now.
