Hi,
A couple of months ago my xbox (which had a very old modchip) got moved and then when I turned it on it didn't load to the launch game menu etc. Yesterday I softmodded my other xbox with sid 5.11 and used AID to get xbmc and that worked fine but I remembered my other xbox had a 250g hard drive so I wanted to use that again. I loaded up AID and then installed the evoX dashboard on my old xbox so then it worked like before but the problem is I can't access it on Filezilla. I could access my softmodded xbox on filezilla but when I set the exact same details into the chipped xbox it wouldn't recognise it and some of the menu has blue text that I can't edit. I also noticed in the menus that the harddrive is locked and that I could unlock it but it says that "it will now boot from an original xbox bios". Is it okay for me to go ahead and do that? I'm pretty confused as someone else modded the xbox years ago and I only just softmodded for the first time yesterday to try and understand it all better. |

Unlock a softmodded Xbox's hard drive and it will cease to function.
Unlock a chipped Xbox and it won't really matter unless the chip fails or you want to boot to the stock bios (re: turn the chip off.. a retail BIOS will not allow boot when the hard drive is unlocked). Unlocking is not relevant to your problem. If I'm reading you right, you have Evox on your chipped box but can't FTP into it. You're more than likely trying to connect to the wrong IP address. Use the one listed in the Evox Settings menu. And just as a matter of clarification, what specific text is listed in blue? |

Type
IP 0.0.0.0 Line Status 100/Full Duplex Ethernet MAC Address 00:50:F2:90:EF:27 that's all the blue text I've read a few guides and changed to the settings they gave but it didn't seem to work even when it worked in CMD Ping. |

I managed to fix it. I know in the previous post I said my i.p was 0.0.0.0 but I forgot to plug in the ethernet. I did try before with it plugged in but it didn't work for some reason. I launch some ftp thing then changed my ip to that and it worked.
Is there a way of putting games/emulators on the xbox without burning to disc first? I have some isos and emulators with roms but I cant seem to find the emulator folder (do I just create that myself?) and I can't extract the iso files on my computer. Yes, just create a directory for your emulators and point your dash at it (re:edit evox.ini).
For your games, just install DVD2Xbox (in the same manner as emulators) and rip from your originals. That's the easiest way to guarantee your backups will run from the hard drive and the dash will detect them. You should always rip them from a DVD using DVD2Xbox, because it patches the xbe file to allow it to run from the hard drive. This post has been edited by Xombe: Jul 8 2012, 05:49 AM |

I did all that and the emulator works great however is there a way to save games without using save state? I'm playing super mario 64 and the in game save feature doesn't seem to work.

Couldn't tell you without knowing what emulator you are using and/or how it's configured.
Otherwise, yes. |

I'm using surreal 64 and it doesn't let me save in game. PCSXBOX does allow me to save and that's a psx emulator however the quality isn't as good as a pc emulator i've been on (epsxe). I ordered a hd cable to use for some xbox games and maybe that will help with the emulators as well.

Did you upgrade from an older version of surreal64?
Or, perhaps it's (and I'm guessing blind here) looking to save in a partition you don't have or haven't properly created. |

I downloaded surreal64xxx b5 (can't find out the exact version of b5) and that was the first emulator I put on. I just made a save folder in the emulator folder and it worked however there are no files in that folder when I check it.
