Well, first of all: Hello everyone, I've been reading for a long time now and finally just registered. Next, apologies for probably posting in the wrong forum, i just couldn't find any better place to post.

As everyone knows, HD-DVD is dead. Prices are falling and falling and i was thinking about getting myself a Toshiba HD-EP30, which retails at about 95 € around here at the moment, as a replacement for my old DVD-Player because I have a Tosh LCD and SD-DVDs at 720p and Regza Link would be just nice.

But why be satisfied with that when we could have so much more?
The HD-EP30 for example offers a NEC D30571CF2 chip for HD decoding, 4x Infineon 512 Mbit DDR2-SDRAM chips plus 2x 1Gbit Nanya (NT5TU128M8BJ-3C512) RAMs, making a total of 512 MB RAM.

Other than that, it has an Ethernet port and an unused USB port.

Imagine what you could do with such a machine for less than 100 bucks!
With some modified firmware, this could be the ultimate Player for HD-Xvid, DviX, x264 with the option to stream over Ethernet or from an external HDD.

So, simple question: Has anyone tried any modification yet? Where to start if you're a total noob willing to learn everything?

thx!
