Okey dokey guys...from my understanding there were possibilities of hacks using the Hexic files on the kiosk disc, but everyone stopped because MS put out an update preventing the booting of it through checking the xex. Well now that we have hacked the dvd firmware to not check properly made discs, would it be able to boot the Hexic files and conitinue development in further hacking and possible homebrew? I am definatly a noob but this is just a thought...

I am also not an expert but from what I understand the onley chance of useing the kiosk disk was through an exploit witch from what I understand dose not have a very good chance of working due the the 360's overflow scans

Flash your FW and pop in the disc, tell us if it works or not.

I tried my kiosk disc the other day after flashing and it did not work and i know the disc is good because it used to work before the micros0ft update. Ive backed up all 17 of my originals and they all work fine so my flash is also good.

the demo disc i have (burned on DVD-R) comes up as game in the dashboard, when i want to try to run it i have the message ' please replace disc, probably disc is dirty"
i let my friend flash my drive and it booted up a backup flawlessly so i know i have a working flash .

maybe the demo disc i have is an NTSC one i dont know. my xbox360 is pal.

so it does not work on my xbox360

It never stopped , at least not for those that never updated , you cant do much with it , just change the flash file for a custom made one and thats it.

Is the bit-setting for that disc set at DVD-ROM? Your writer may not auto set it when you burned it. Whereas if you made a backup now you would make sure the bitsetting was DVD-ROM.

With the Xtreme firmware, its is only DVD+R that work. Again with a -R you would not have changed teh bit-setting to DVD-ROM.

I'm guessing MS updated Live to not allow that specific XEX to be launched. If anyone has access to an original kiost demo, try it in your updated 360 and I bet it won't load either.

whether this is useful info or not i am not sure but here is my recent experience playing around with flashing another 360 i thought id check out for my self what this kiosk disc returns with the update/flash etc

so i have a standard un touched core 360:

-flashed it with xtreme.bin (i do not have any 360 backups working as of yet (too lazy to backup my own and its hard to get working SS files for australian games sad.gif). i noticed my ORIGINALS weren't even loading (they said 'please put this disc into an xbox360 console' ie. the video only was loading)

i read somewhere that u require the xtreme_PROPER.bin file, so i reflashed with this and originals work fine now (assumed the flash is perfect now)

i THEN popped in the kiosk disc and off it went, loaded played fine (burned on a dvd-r a couple months ago with my pioneer 110d and standard firmware)

i then inserted tomb raider original as i knew this had the update, let it update, turned console off then put in the kiosk disc which now fails to load (plain dirty disc error)

NOW..

the funny thing i have noticed is i had a game i tried to burn from a downloaded iso + ss file from the net which has not loaded although BEFORE i updated with the tomb raider disc i was getting and error 'this game might not be of your region, clean it, reboot console'..... NOW the same disc (after the update) gives me the same error as the kiosk disc 'dirty disc', but nothing about the region, and the burned disc was PAL i can assure you that... any ideas why? perhaps there is something other than the kiosk disc not being signed ie. a backdoor before the update is applied in the 360s core security? i am not wise enough to know but hopefulluy if there is the right person is reading this, or someone can enlighten me as to why the error msg has changed?

I read that it did. Only the ability to launch from DVD-Rom was removed in the Dash update. I've also been told that full rips of the Kiosk demo disk, when ripped the with WxRipper, with SS, etc. also play with the hacked FW.

Talking about downloaded ISO files will lead to a ban VERY quickly...

If the legitimate kiosk discs work with the updated dashboard, theres no reason why a properly backed up version wouldnt work. ("Updated dashboard" being anything released before this next spring update.)

demo disks are nice and all but what dose it realy matter as I was saying before its cant be used for anything and if an exploit is possiple there is just as good of a chance of getting one to work with the outher games that now work

am I wrong?
