I know about hddhackr but sadly it only works for western digital drives, and I happen to have an extra 80 GB Seagate laying around that is identical to the one already on my 360. So is it possible to upgrade?

it is not possible because sectors 16-22 are signed and contain information about the drive that is contained in the drives firmware. hddhackr puts sectors 16-22 were they go on the new drive then it reflashes the firmware on the drive to match the sectors 16-22 that are signed. The tool is not able to write firmware of other drives currently. you could try getting sectors 16-22 from a 60GB drive and place them were they go on the drive and see if it will show up on the 360 but the probability of it working is at a 5 percent chance.

this thread does a pretty good job of describing what has to happen to make a drive work other than the western digitals bevs.

the specialist explains the security on the harddrives, and how he beat it to make the tool we all use.

--edit--

the link to the thread might be useful tongue.gif
