Removing Windows Live Sign-In Assistant also did it for me.

Apparently that crap (Sign-In Assistant) is bundled with "Games for Windows Software".

Major thank you to qtip82 for finding out about this and for saving me hours of testing & tinkering.

Just uninstalled WINDOWS LIVE SYNC on windows 7, my ability to browse fore new share has been restored.
I think this was part of a windows 7 update I was holding off on, forgot why, and decided to install last week.

None of these worked for me. I don't have Live ID installed anymore. I shared the drive I need. I changed Win7 to 40/56 bit encryption, removed the password from the admin account, added an xbox account, changed sharing so no one needs a password. Tried all kinds of SMB// syntaxes to the XBOX XBMC MediaSources.xml & Sources.xml files. Nothing works. It's a brand new Win7 Home Premium 64b on a new Dell i7-2600. I also have Win7 32b & it works but that's on an old P4 used for testing & going to get rid of soon.
