So i have this Xbox 360 arcade. It can't play original xbox games on it which infuriates me to no end. I was told I can play original games if I modded it. It seems really complicated. Is there any really easy to follow step by step tutorials? Am I better off sending it off somewhere to get modded? Is it able to play backups from a hard drive or would it have to be from burned discs? Is it even possible to mod my peice of crap xbox arcade? Let me know whatever I need to know to help me on my way please!

Looking up things about it, it seems crazy complicated so I'm leaning towards sending it out. Are there any reputable sites that offer this service? What exactly am I going to need to buy? A mod chip? Drive flashing? Will I need to buy a hard drive that is specifically for the xbox because my Xbox arcade has like no internal memory at all. Any idea on total cost? Any help?

Yes it is complicated for someone who has never attempted it. First thing you'll need to do is find out if it's even moddable in the way you want it to be. Check the manufacturing date on the back.

Also go to the system information section in the Xbox dashboard and see what dashboard version you have. Report back with this info.

You can check craigslist or any xbox forum's "BST, buy sell trade" section for reputable people who can perform the service. I know a few over at Se7ensins who do it, not sure how many there are here though. It's not usually very cheap though. You're probably looking at another 100+ dollars into it to get it to do what you want. And any old hard drive will work for it once its modded, to answer that question.

If it's a white Xbox, then that bad boy is a Jasper. The dashboard is too new to do the "Jtag" hack, which is the easiest, but you can still RGH it (same general results, but requires more time and money as you need to buy a glitch chip to install in the console). But you've got yourself the most reliable model Xbox out of any of them (Yes, even Slims). If you RGHd that, you'd have a real nice box to fool around with. There's also the option to get a "dual nand" which would mean you could have the option to go on Xbox live in one dashboard, then you could restart the console and be in a modified dashboard that you can play Xbox originals and all that good stuff (but offline only).

Now you just have to find someone to perform the service for you. Also keep in mind that having it RGH'd will increase its resale value significantly and because it's a Jasper, if you ever wanted to sell it and make that money back - you could do so very easily.

You can RGH your console but make sure you do not update your dashboard anymore. The older the dash the better. The new dashboard update prevents you from even doing RGH.

You can get an external hard drive up to 2TB in size, it must be formatted to FAT32, then you can use a program on your PC called ISO2GOD latest version is 1.36 I believe, then you open your ISO in that, choose the hard drive as the destination, choose a temporary folder for the ISO rebuild and then you can queue up a bunch of ISO and then click start and it will do them all and you just walk away. Also you can rip games straight from disc to your hard drive as well.

Your XBOX 1 games, only some can be played. MS only made some backwards compatible. RGH also makes it so you cannot play on xbox live anymore.

Thanks. XBox live is not a problem because I rarely if ever play online. Will that program for tranferring my isos work on a mac or is it PC only? If I can't do it on a mac it probably won't be worth it to mod it at all because I only have a mac......
