I am about to get a 4GB 360 S and put my old 250GB hdd in it (I prefer matte to glossy)

My question........

Is there a way to tell by manufacturing date, serial number, or anything on the outside of the box what dvd drive the Xbox 360 S will have?

9504 or 0225?

I know their is a new Hitachi, but I am going to buy mine from a hole in the wall place I used to get old 60GB consoles from to JTAG so I know it will be an older model.

I just want to know round about what manufacturing date did they start switching to the 0225?[color=#FF0000]

I know it isn't for sure, but any little bit can help. Even if you can only provide what drive you have and its manufacturing date that would be extremely helpful.

360drives.com shows the following:

lot #s: all are 16D4S except 1032

1024 PAL
1025 PAL
1027 NTSC
1028 PAL ---- all are 9504 drives

1032 PAL ---- this guy says he got a Hitachi
1044 NTSC
1047 NTSC ---- all are 0225 drives

I don't know if the region alters what drive you will get or if it is strictly based on lot #.
There might be another thread stating this, I'm not sure.
