QUOTE
According to a developer interview on Worthplaying conducted a few days ago, The Outfit, the third person game being developed for XBox360 and PC, is a graphical powerhouse. The platforms were running neck in neck until the team turned on the graphical effects like heat shimmer, then the Xbox360 pulled ahead. This will surely create some PC Vs. Xbox360 discussions.

Up until a couple months ago, we had a PC version of the game that ran in parallel to our 360 version (mostly used for testing purposes). But now that we have a lot of the wizbang graphical features in on the 360 only (MSAA, depth of field, heat shimmer, etc.), the PC version looks like the ugly step child. The 360 is much more powerful than your average PC, so we’d have to make a lot of sacrifices to get the game going again on that platform.

im sure this will spur up a debate but it just goes to show that unless your PC is sporting a multi-core CPU with a $1000 worth of GPU (SLI or CrossFire) then the 360 is far and away more powerful.

a $3000 rig, would just laugh its ass off at an xbox 360, expecially in the loading times arena, its also more capable, can do what ever you want, better image etc.

But it also costs $2400 more.

Something I feel worth noting, my 14sih month old computer can run CoD 2, with texture quality high, 1024x768, 4xMSAA, everything else on high save for dynamic lights on normal, and no smoke smoothing.

Things different: lower frame rate, lower res (85% the amount of pixels the x360 uses), less dynamic lights (didn't notice any difference with this set to high, in IQ), and lack of smoke smoothing (again no noticable IQ difference, maybe I didnt look hard enough =P).

But then again my computer was built over a year ago, CoD2 cost $10 less, has the promise of mods, and I don't have to get up to check things on the internet.

Ehh pointless console vs PC discussions again.

But interesting they mention MSAA but not of what complexity, and also no mention if its actually running at 1280x720 or the dreaded 1024x600. I'm looking forward to this game as well as Sains Row.

I think this only has mercenaries style destruction so almost everything has "normal" and "destroyed" models and then the animation inbetween. But from the very old videos I remember seeing a tank drive through the corner of a house so just that corner was destroyed so hopefully they have a few separate destructable parts in them.

Btw Saints Row is done by the Red Faction guys but this isnt, and saints row has no geomod sadly, but great physics to compensate.

A new trailer for The Outfit: http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/748/748368/vids_1.html

Gotta love the physics, but I hope they make even better use of them, because especially the part where they shoot the stuka and its fuselage just disappears and the wreck hits another plane, needs alot of work blink.gif

I'm just nitpicking and some of the other stuff in there looks great! Looking forward to this and this game deserves more attention.

I remember in BF42 how I'd shoot an enemy plane, then the flaming wrecks would down a friendly plane then land on my head for the final insult. Now thats fun.
