· You'd need to convert the drive from SATA to IDE.
· You'd need the correct firmware

I doubt anyone will bother to work on a firmware patch to make the drives compatible with the original xbox.

There exist pc drives with modified firmware that are capable of reading original xbox 1 and xbox 360 game disks.
A google search for "Schtrom360Xtract" might help you further.
It's one of the programs used to do the job.
