Every time i unplug my box to take it to a friends house the time and date goes haywire. Is there any way that you guys/gals know of that will keep the time current? I have an x3 modchip.

i looked in the tutorials section but couldn't find it anywhere. I remember when i first modded my box about 2 years ago that i was reading somewhere on how to keep it current, but i can't seem to find it now.

Thanks for all your help!!! biggrin.gif

Is there no-one out there that knows how to fix this, or at least point me to some god reading material where I can read how to do it?? happy.gif

My clock and date both switch and I am using the newest release of XBMC as my dashboard. Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated!! biggrin.gif

Thanks!!! wink.gif

Newbies section FAQ will tell you why - all xboxes are made that way.

I appologize!! rolleyes.gif

I seemed to have looked over this in that section....

"The xbox does not have a built in battery for storing configuration/settings/date/time like the ps2. So don't be surprised if it asks you to input new date/time after u unplug/unhook it from the power source after 2 hours."

Thanks for letting me know though. I thought that I had ran across a tutorial about 2 or 3 years ago that had explained a way to make the time stay current, but I wasn't as experienced as i am now at modifying. Back then i was scared to even open it up!! happy.gif

Time to hang that idea out to dry!!! biggrin.gif

Thanks!!

You can make your dashboard syncronise the time with a network time server on the internet. You will need an internet connection for that.

The xbox uses a Goldcap to keep the clock running without power. This is a 1 farad capacitor. The ones in the xbox have a very bad quality and start to malfunction after a couple of years. Some even start leaking and produce some corrosive stuff on the xbox mobo.

If you see signs of leakage, and if the xbox looses it's date and time after 1 or 2 hours, than you better replace that capacitor. You can find 4.7 farad types that will keep your date and time a couple of hours longer. You can even replace that capacitor with a 3V battery and a diode in serie. This has been discussed on this forum already.

regards.
