Sony released a new update for the PS3 Firmware.
What's new/fixed:
* New for 2.52: The playback quality of some PLAYSTATION®3 format software has been improved.
* New for 2.52: A text entry issue that occurs when using the on-screen keyboard, USB keyboard or Bluetooth® keyboard with some PLAYSTATION®3 format software has been addressed.

I've noticed that NHL now has streaming adds on the boards which is slowing down ganmeplay. COuld this have been a part of the update as well?

I doubt Sony would be updating third party games. I don't have the game but if this is an EA game it will be their doing.

Damn I could not download the damn update. I didn't even get a chance to play last night because the update kept getting stuck at 3% DOWNLOAD. Sony, it's time to fix these servers. Come on.

Not a problem here. Perhaps it is down to geographical location

it's been discussed numerous times in the past, but the frequency of updates feels rather high. I appreciate the continuing effort to improve the system but I play so infrequently it "seems" like every time I want to play (again very infrequently) I have to update first. I'm sure i'm in the minority but it's becoming increasingly annoying. If only the updates were optional... I guess.

The updates are optional, if you don't mind playing offline.

I remember a while back there were quite a few XBL updates, probably around the same frequency as PS3 updates have been this year. Many things have been done now, so I'm sure the updates will slow down, soon. I've loved all the updates they've given us this year. Instead of doing a bunch of things at once, they did a few things little by little, and the only one that took a couple tries (though it worked fine for me) was 2.4x. Download speeds are only a problem if you don't have port forwarding set up right; uPnP doesn't really work as well with PS3s as it seems to with 360s.

I miss my PS3 right now; I wish it were here so I could update it tongue.gif
