I've got a Xenon... I've had 3 RROD, but have still managed to get the last update before June09. It's running strong!
I'm waiting for a bulletproof xenon tut. It'll be my first hardmod on a console (Funny thing is, I fix/minor hack stuff @ the machine shop where I work... I'm scared to do it on my dime!)
I can't wait for the killer app! (XBMC? something else?)
In the meantime, I may just get a ps3, unless M$ decides to bluray soon... I'm already too heavily vested in M$.

I'm willing to buy an already exploited one. I mean, I can mod the firmware easily, I'm not a newb, but the amount of effort required to make the JTAG hack work is just too challenging. So many things can go wrong, you have to solder parts and keep your fingers crossed that the kernel isn't patched already.
Let's hope an easier method comes about. Or the dream where you can pop in a USB stick and it exploits the console

Microsoft really blew it by banning so many consoles. To buy and play XBLA games I now have to buy a new xbox (which I won't, because I'm not going to be bullied by MS when I paid good money for games and a live subscription) or mod it for homebrew and p*rate the XBLA games. So great job, Microsoft, there is no doubt I will be p*rating games I would still like to pay for anyway. It is no coincidence massive bannings coincided with massive exploits. Unban consoles, and get that $$, or keep up with the current strategy that's driven me to p*rating $10-$20 games I want to buy! I can guarantee I will be buying a PS3 before another 360 (if ever again).
Sorry to digress. I had to regularly update Live to stream divx-etc videos over the network (it forces users to sign in to live), so I have the 09 Fall update and am just sitting twittling my thumbs. Better believe homebrew is going on it as soon as it can. A quicker option would be for me to just trade it with someone for an un-updated box (but I'm trying to hold out on that).
Homebrew on the 360 could be a home entertainment killer. It would put at least one product on my shelf out of use.

WHen i see alot more homebrew and the betas are pretty stable and yes a bit less confusing just to enable homebrew, then i might give it a go on the second non live system.

Just do it! There's nothing like taking control of your system back off M$ and if you don't do it now your chances are slim. Starting to feel just like the old Xbox1 days
