i changed mine from channel 6 to channel 11 and worked great since.. it would only have a problem at night when the people came home so i would try that.. i didnt ever have to ping anything using this router for it to work on my xbox or my 360

the pining is only to verify where the problem is.

id say the most likely problem is inteferance, and changing the channel should fix that

Thanks for the help you 2.. I hope this solves my problems, so honestly I didn't have to run out get a new ROUTER :-( Cause this just started like a day or 2 ago :-( and I thought it was the cable, or the router.. but man this sucks.. all it needed was a little configing!!! but the odd thing is that this never happend before, and the dude @ "BEST BUY" had no answer for me when I told him what was up hahahah....
But, I have no answer as to why, this is happening now, but not before?

there is a good range on 2.4ghz devices and if a neighbor gets something using the same frequency you can have mad lag problems

to ferrari rulz: i am tired and half writing anything...i am not arguing anything you say and sorry if i sound that way... i was just trying to tell him how i fixed the exact same problem that happened to me out of the blue one day..so hopefully it helps him and sorry if i sounded like i was contradicting what you were telling him

Why are people saying to ping the Xbox360 - it doesn't reply to ICMP requests .... wink.gif

Also - why are people referring to wireless settings, the guy said it's hard wired ...

Just use the diagnostics on the Network Tab on the desktop, that'll tell you if things are setup ok ...

Sounds to me like it's your ISP/Cable provider that's at fault here - if it works sometimes but not others, then you're probably hitting peak traffic times and things are timing out - this has nothing to do with your setup ....

sounds like the computer might have a virus and is hogging the internet connection. how much data do you download per month, and does it sound reasonable for your usage?

Yeah... I don't use my desktop often guy... it just sits there and serves as a server well not really just a place, where I can put all my music I have .rar uped... instead on my shit ass laptop. thats about it..So, when I go to upload.. I go to my network folder, then to "shared music" and upload shit from there.. thats about it.. But, my since someone decided to screw me over with the website I ran... I'm re-upping everything now.. but I just moved all the rar files to the laptop, and I"m doing it from there, instead of the desktop...

ok, so if its running as a server, is it accessible to people on the general internet? if so, then it could be caused because of people on the downloading the content you have on your server
