Just wondered how many people are using the XBOX Media Extender remote and if its worth getting, I have a standard remote which works well with XBMC but would like to have more functions?

If anyone using one of these what functions have you set and use? Isit just a straight forward swap and a matter of editing the keymaps for extra functions?

Looking forward to your responses.

This remote has loads of extra buttons, so did you program them to do anything?

I paid $30 US for my Xbox Media Center Extender remote (which is same price as regular xbox dvd remote). XBMC already has defined functions for almost every button (if not all buttons) on the remote.

You would need to do an additional mod to your xbox in order to power on by remote. Something like the X3IR mod. I'm using an ir mod and turn on the xbox by pressing the "enter" button on the remote.

This is the link to the Xir site. No remote can do this without a modification (Xir or similar), afterwhich any remote can do this (i.e. RCA's DVD code for Power/Xbox Display button). Once the XBox is powered on the button functions as normal. The stock use of the 0 button for off may require some keymap adjustments. I think there are some new programable functions that they've talked about. Not sure if they've been implemented or not.
