The real way? I didn't know there was a published "real" way to do this. This idea was already mulled over. By me along with others a lot. With the open HDD you run the risk of getting dirt and dust on the HDD. Even with the exterior case on. The HDD case is NOT air tight. Stuff starts getting on your hdd you will have a problem. Even cleaning it will be a problem. Just a heads up. Looks as cool as when I did it though. Good job

So you put plexi in the actual hdd case. And putting a flushmount window? And why did you need change the plug on it. You couldn't flip it?

yes, both will have a window, and if i left the cable alone the HDD sits right at the end of the drive, moding the cable lets it sit in the middle of the window.

when u take apart a hard drive, go into a bathroom, turn the shower on HOT and close the door, this will cause moisture to trap any dirt particles, and make them settle on surfaces, that way theres no dust in the air.

Dang. Wow. So risky. I remember reading somewhere that you need a "Clean Room" to open a HDD. Like a room that has been tested for no dirt in the air.

yes, you put the shower on hot and leave it for a few mins, then do your work in the bathroom. the cleanest place you can get then.

Even with the shower it is still risky. I like the cut for the window. If it works now I wouldnt risk opening it up again.
