Is It True?, Madden 360 Options

i dont believe that they can even build an engine from the ground up for the 360 if they wanted to, they only had the finished product since august, so that right there proves something.  also it seems more feasable that they just took the existing madden and rewrote enough of the engine to look (in their opinion) next gen.  i hate EA and the madden series but i do think it looks good.  however i have to agree that if it was really built for the ground for the 360 i would think it would look a lot better.  yes im impressed by the 3d crowds, the stadiums, and the character models but i was dissapointed by a lot more.  why isnt the grass pixal shaded?  why doesnt the skin of the players look better?  why is the lighting not as profound as in other games?  as much as this game impresses it also dissapoints IMO.  NBA LIVE does look next gen to me but madden doesnt look to really tap into the 360 even for a launch title.  if they could already get a level of realism for games like LIVE and Fight Night, why not their star sports game Madden??

some good stuff in there.just a question about the point u make at the begining regarding the game engine.would they have needed the finished 360 to start develping a new engine.wouldnt the engine have been worked on then adapted for 360.surely this is the case when ur gonna be using the engine over a range of next gen platforms.

i understand your question and yes you could start building an engine based on assumption but what this game shows me is that they underestimated the power of the next gen and have to upgrade their engine now. companies can build an engine based on spec but if what they are saying is true, they didnt have an accurate "spec" to go by in the first place, only estimates and assumptions. in the end it seems as though they have come up short (with the madden engine atleast, again the LIVE and final fight games look great IMO) and that sucks because knowing EA they arent going to upgrade the engine drastically like they could or should over the years.

also im kinda confused on this whole using the engine for 10 years thing. if the average life cycle of a console is 5 years, why would they use this madden engine (which already looks sub-par) on the next-next gen systems??

i dont like EA any more then i did any other time, but no matter what company it is, if they achieve something good ill admit it. LIVE and fight night look good, would never buy them, but they do look good IMO

burnout is actually a great game. played revenge for the first time last weak (which is also the first burnout i ever played) and it was a blast (no pun intended) other then HL and battlefield 360, that may be the first EA game i cosider buying since mutant league football.

Well, FIFA has been on the same engine since FIFA 98, just better graphics and guess what, the xbox 360 version is still on that same engine.....................

Hmmm.. Im looking at madden like this.
Sega sports made a supperior game last year.
Madden goes out seals sole ownership of licenced games.
Madden gets to sit back do nothing and sell games.
I doubt it will be any good.

I know its far from realistic but thank god I have Blitz.

I've been hoping to see that 720p/AA upgrade for x360's BC for some reasons, but PES is really the main reason. Even the current PES would look so much clearer and sharper with the 720p - it does become a bit too blocky with just 480p and with wide camera settings when they players are only a few pixels high.

These PC screenshots really show the difference higher resolution can bring to the game, even if the models are the same (and these are old, from PES3).

Yeah EA will do anything not to change there unbeatable gameplay,i hope fifas gonna be better.we should at least have a choice and not be forced into buying PES (not that you need forcing)I wish EA would stop hogging the licences.
