Ok so I had this issue after taking my box apart. I have the 3.5 HD mod and had been playing Red Faction without a problem, but the box was getting to hot so I decided open it up and add another fan.

After I booted the machine back up it wouldn't turn on completely. it would just get to the logo and freeze or not turn on at all so I removed the fan and started the xbox and it came up fine, but when i try to play red faction/crackdown/wwe smackdown it freezes up then restarts the xbox.

Another thing that did happen when I plugged the box back in is I forgot to change my IP gateway and because of that my box was on live and I was banned. (Not sure if that has anything to do with it)

Steps I've taken so far:
Flashed hacked NAND again
tried another 3.5 drive and re backed up my games to that.
Removed part of the 3.5 mod - the sata cable under the board and I am now using the 20GB stock HD.
So far I only have Red Faction on the stock drive, but I'm still getting the same results(freeze-then reboot).


Another thing to add:

Unfortunately I can't test with a DVD because I have no DVD drive.

I've downloaded multiple copies and had the same results. It was also working fine before I dissembled it.

I picked wrecking crew and told it not to load a profile to save my progress in Red Faction and it loaded fine. Then I tried the same when pressing new game and it turned off again.

I'm going to try to create a full ISO dump to GOD with padding and everything and see if that makes a difference at all.

Yeah same thing. it starts loading then before it finishes the xbox turns off.

O yes I forgot to add it probably was because of your banning because banning cripples your HDD functions.

I restored the original hacked nand before I was banned. Do you think that would fix the banning issue?

I also rand the current nand through 360HDFRv1.03 and flashed it and had the same results.

Yeah that's what I meant I flashed the original NAND from before I was banned and still had the same problem. Could the drive have something on it that prevents recripples my NAND after I boot back up with the same drive it was banned with?

Ok next thing I tried was:

I extracted the ISO instead of making an ISO2GOD and uploaded it to HDD1/Games/RedFaction

I also tried WWE RAW 2010 and uploaded the same way.

Redfaction still reboots the 360 after the initial load and wwe raw freezes up then reboots during the opening logo.


Someone please help me out?? At this point I'm not sure why this is happening and have tried everything I can think of.

Ok so I tried unplugging all drives from the 360 and copied a few games to a USB drive under GAMES/GAMENAME

I ran red faction and again it restarts the 360. Ran Cloudy with a chance of meatballs and that works fine. Ran HALO ODST and that tells me the disk is dirty.

Another thing was my original nand did not have any bad blocks. Even when I reflashed it before all this happened and created a backup that backup did not have bad blocks.

Now after I flashed my original NAND back on it did not help, but I tried dumping the NAND again using freestyle dash and it told me it had bad blocks:
Bad Block found @ 0x3a5


Any ideas anyone? I would really appreciate some help I would rather not have to buy another board off ebay to get this to work.

I strongly think this has something to do with my NAND.

I tried dumping my nand using flash360 2 times then compared both to make sure they matched

Then I made a new freeboot using iHcNandToolV1. I tried Red Faction again and this time it rebooted before it even got to the main menu. I then used iHcNandToolV1 again and chose my original dump NAND from when I first JTAGed the 360 and when i tried Red Faction it rebooted when trying to load the level after I picked new game, but Wrecking crew mode worked fine.

I think this has something to do with : Bad Block found @ 0x3a5 status 250

What I may try doing is downloading a demo like crackdown 2 and see if that freezes up. if it does then I'll restore my nand and tear off my jtag wires then try it again to see if it happens. If it does or doesn't I'm not sure what I would do from there, but maybe dump my NAND again with the new bad blocks if it works.

Other than that does anyone know how I can fix my NAND? I really think that's whats causing all these problems.
