I'm new to the xbox 360 modding, and was wondering which sata chip set I should get? I've read on couple of forums that some ppl had difficulty with their sata chip set because some of them don't load up at dos, or something like that. I'll appreciate any recommendations. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Google "textbook xbox 360 guide" and download the PDF. Read it and it will tell you a lot more about what's needed!

I've already read the tutorial. I only want know where I can get sata chip set from that will work. I know some ppl at ebay are selling them, but like I said, I've read few post about some sata chip set that don't work. Do you know any website that sell them, and they work for sure. I just don't want to end up buying the wrong chip set.

Will this work? http://cgi.ebay.ca/SATA-SERIAL-ATA-IDE-PCI...idZp1638Q2em122
Or does anyone know any cheaper ones?

Just like what Martinchris23 posted if you read the tutorial you'd know that the card you're looking at buying WILL work! I'm not sure why some people can't get their VIA chipset to work. but my guess is that either they got it second hand or the seller can't be trusted to sell quality parts. And also you have to consider lots of factors why other chipset don't work.

It could the owners fault, it could be the setup they have. It could be anything. But I bought a VIA chipset and it worked fine for me.

stacker69, thanks for clearing that up for me. I just had doubts about it, so wanted to make sure if I'm getting the right one. Thanks for the help.

You're welcome. Happy modding. And one more thing, when I used iPrep 101 v006 (the latest is iPrep 101 v007.3) and I used a 4GB usb stick, my PC won't boot from the stick. But I bought another 1GB USB stick and iPrep worked.

I'm not sure if anyone alse had this experience?

iPrep has problems booting off anything larger than 1Gb. you can use the HP USB format tool to format the drive (and make it bootable) then in iPrep deselect make bootable and continue like normal. it doesnt always work though
