Just Got A Star Wars Limited Edition, now I wanna do something with my halo 3 Options

I have a RROD Halo 3 phat 360.
No, I do not know what if any code it displays. I would almost
go out on a limb an say it didnt show any code or video other
than BLACK screen.
it was active on xbox live and not banned
so its got a good nand or what ever these boxes have
havent really done much with the 360s other than watch my kid burn em down.

now want I want to do is either

a. fix and mod this one
b. swap out the guts of this RROD for a running modded phat box


since the drive was fine when it died, I assume parts would be usable
for a different box.

I will keep the case here so I can just ship out the internals minus the case
would make it easier for the work.

Don't buy that kit. Causes more harm than good, I can go into details if you want. For a real fix to the RROD, you'll want a professional to reflow or reball chip causing the problem (probably gpu). I can reflow it with my reworking station if you're looking to get it fixed, but I can't reball (havent picked up a reballing jig yet).

Since the Halo 3 Xbox's have Zephyr boards, you'd probably have a pretty unreliable RGH (like jtag), unless it died many years ago and is on a super old dashboard, in which case it could be jtagged the traditional way.

The best mod for you would probably be to flash the DVD drive to play backups, that way you could play online too (whereas RGH and jtags can't) (I can also do this for you if you don't want to attempt it).

You need to get the secondary error code in order to make a better guess as to which chip needs the reflow/reball.

You can try the "RROD fix kit" but this is a bandaid and usually lasts no more than a month. All it does it put pressure on the GPU to force the cracked two pieces of the solder ball that cracked to meet again. This pressure can warp the board beyond repair, crush the other solder balls, or even crack the chip entirely. The pressure will also be uneven causing inefficient heat dissipation to the heatsink(s).

Well I could attempt to repair it and if I get it repaired, I could proceed to flash the DVD drive to play burnt games, but the fact of the matter is that it sounds like you want a Jtag or RGH Xbox and the motherboard in your Halo 3 is one of the least reliable for the RGH hack. If you're willing to risk it, a small number of people have had success with the mod on Zephyrs, but you'd probably have to pay for it whether it works or not. I don't personally do those types of mods so you'd have to look around maybe in other forums.

As for trading for a jtag/RGH system, your Xbox is the 2nd oldest model and is currently broken. The only thing it has going for it is the Halo 3 case, which seems to be in demand by people all over the internet. A jtag/RGH system can range anywhere between 90 and 400 dollars - and I personally haven't been able to sell a working Halo 3 Xbox for more than 85 dollars shipped on ebay, so I really got somewhere around 65 dollars for them.

But like I said, I can attempt to fix it and flash the DVD drive for you, but it doesn't sound like the mod would benefit you very much unless you're interested in playing games for free.

I assume the dvd drive is working fine , it was when it RROD'd
and the box was not banned from live so its got useable ID numbers
for somebody who wanted to fix a banned console

as you can see, I see parts, you see a disabled console lol
the parts would be useful to somebody who was doing this kind
of repair etc

Yeah I understand. I see parts too, but in your case I see a repairable console, so I didn't think of it as a parts machine. And I figured if you were a collector, you'd want the original guts in the Halo shell, but I see you only care about the outside now.

Well I don't have any guts for you right now, but I'm sure there's someone out there who'd be willing to trade you the guts of a Jtag for your broken guts + cash. But the cash on your end would be significantly more than the Halo 3 guts are worth (I usually buy full RROD consoles for less than 30 dollars shipped).

If all you want is a working Halo 3 console, I recommend getting the guts in yours repaired. If you want a working halo 3 console that is Jtagged or RGHd, then you'll have to find the guts somewhere else and swap them in, which you already know lol.

Sorry, I'm still a little confused as to what you want the end result to be with that thing. So far all I'm really 100% sure about is that you want a working Xbox with a halo shell on it.

I have no clue who moved your thread - only suggestions would maybe be specifically stating what your are wanting to do with the trade, not use an open ended question as to what you should do and what offers you get.

Figure out what you want and what you wanna do and then post.

You could also try PM a mod instead of having a temper tantrum like 2 year old when shit gets moved and you don't know why. People are more likely to respond if you act your age.

Lastly, all of the forums are a privilege for you to use and NOT a right. You do not make the demands.

If you're looking for working, modded internal hardware I have a working Xenon with upgraded thermal paste (cpu & gpu) w/ a samsung ts-h943 flashed to LT+3.0.

And finally, not to nitpick but what does the thread title have anything to do with the thread itself? I clicked this thread because I thought you were selling a Star Wars LE but it seems like you were just bragging that you got one... not cool.

well they (star wars 360) are all over down here in Ft. Myers Fl, the best buy here had like 10 of them stacked up in the aisle believe it or not. If you want one, let me know, I'll see if I can help you out. the last batch I saw were 399 plus .06 %sales tax.

but that's ancient news now, its back where it belongs.

the halo 3 board I believe is a zephyr if I am not mistaken, but I COULD BE! are the power supplies interchangeable? looks like xenon an zephyr both used a 203 watt power supply. if so it would make it a lot easier to just swap internals out.

you can pm me particulars to discuss about it.

again, I'm not selling a star wars box, but if anybody just cant find one, get with me and I will do my best to help out if they are still stacked up like they were last week.
