I compuse computer music and this is my personal setup. I use Magith Midi Studio to do the basic midi rendering. I import the midi files into Fruity Loops Studio and convert them to mp3 and replace them with mp3 instruments. I use gigastudio as my sampler. I hope that helps.

That's what im saying. Record instruments in gigastudio (sample them and stuff) and use the midi sequencer so you can get good beats (double whole notes through i believe 64th notes)

I record mainly true instrumens; guitars, drums, vocals, bass...so i use Cubase SX through a DELTA 66 soundcard...which has 4 1/4" ins and 4 1/4" outs...perfect for instrument cable...so you don't lose quality or volume.
course you need a preamp also....i use an all tube preamp. with either sure SM57 mics or a large diaphram mic.
pop screen is always good...(which is being borrowed and not returned!!! dry.gif )
