Free online game-play forever.  No one should ever charge to play games across the internet.

Pay4Play is like paying a monthly fee for a cell phone that has no included monthly minutes.

i doubt it. the ps3 will have a siginifacnt disatvante, in that game devolopers know that it is much harder to code up a game for the ps3.

xbox live will go on hard and strong, i doubt ps3 will be much competition at all

It's funny to hear people complain about the cost, and how they use XBC, etc.
The cost, to me, is not a problem because the matchmaking in Halo 2 is more than worth it!
Just my opinion, though.

I LOVE LIVE..i have had live for about 2 years and got everybody in my hood to get an account. My xbox has like 12 different accounts on it for halo 2.  Live is what seperates the xbox from the rest.

an xbox can only have 8 live accounts on it, so having 12 is impossible

This would be the stupidest thing they could do.  There is no easy way to impliment that kind of feature.  On top of that the included HDD is only 20gb... that's what? 7... maybe 9 good games if ur lucky?

Take the 3 or 4 largest games you have. The ones with the horrible load times. Say you backed them to your harddrive. You'll get spoiled real fast. Not to mention, if those are games you play a lot, then your discs won't have any wear/scratches which the most heavily games usually show after a while.

MS says they want to make things better, add features that a lot of the modders were looking for, but in the end they can't see the forest for the trees. I don't need all of my games on my harddrive, but the 3 or 4 that have the worst load times sure do come up fast now.

Sure Live! can be good, however I like playing a completely random set of people. I don't care if I get outscored by 50% or more. The better the people I play against, the quicker I learn and better I become. Paying to have "Live!" think for you is bad form. If you find value in it, cool... more power to you. I'll spend that $50 a year on an extra game.

I like live because It is alot faster than Kai link. Their servers really know how to pick good hosts.

But I only play it if I have a free 2 month subscription, otherwise I use Kai link.

I have never had live myself, but have used it in an internet cafe. i thought it was really well organised, especially when you want to jump right in the action!

but as money is really tight (isn't it always) i have to use xLink Kai as i already pay £30 for my broadband and my rent dry.gif

I've tried XBC and Kai but nothing compares to LIVE in terms of ease of use and quality.

I got Live when it first came out then cancelled it 7 months later as I hated it. I ended up getting a 2 month free card from a friend when I got my Halo xbox so I went ahead and got a starter kit and ran it for a year and 2 months. I was going to cancel it in June but a friend got a Live year card for free so I have Live till June 2006. I play online more on XBC or Xlink though as there is just too much BS on Live that I can't do nothing about. At least with Xlink or XBC I can kick and ban people from my games. I'll never pay for online play again as it's just not worth it (at least to me anyway). I'll play online for free or I just won't play online at all. wink.gif

I think I am pretty good to assume that, anyone who has TRIED live, will admit its still the best matchmaking service out there...

Its true, you DO get what you pay for.

Assuming most of the people here have modded xbox's, that sometimes suggests there are a couple dishonest people out there that try to pinch every penny they can wink.gif

I also use KAI, but it still cant compete with Live.

Are there any people out there that have tried Live and found themselves unhappy with it? If so, why?

I got it and played like 2 months out of 12 of the pre pay boxy thing...I have keep forgeting to cancel the account after I chipped my box. I was addicted to playing DDR on XBL for a while though. That was the only cool thing to me, on all the other games I played the people where total tards and I could not stand the kids that cursed worse than the people I work with when I'm just trying to have a good time.

My main reason not to get it is that I live in an area with no real good internet. A fiber line is in progress of being laid down in the ocean (I live on an island) and that got pushed back to spring/summer 2006... So I'm probably just going to end up buying XBL then, and save the money for something else until then.
