If it includes "Counter-Strike: Source" they have my money. Other then that, I already played through Half-Life 2 on the 360.

This would be awesome if Valve allows level build tools to be released and MS allows uploads of modded maps via third party Valve servers. This is what made HL and HL2 MP so awesome on the PC ; Day of Defeat, Counterstrike just to name the biggies. The single player mods were very diverse and fun also. One can always hope I guess rolleyes.gif

I'm certain it will include all the add-ons including a new one called portals.

This will never happen.

If you recall MS has agreed to the implementation of 3rd party servers through Live to allow companies control over things like mods and other aspects of MP. I would say, never say never.

And I would say allowing a company to add mods and allowing individuals to add mods is two different things. MS is not going to do anything that could allow for the possibility of hacks being loaded on to the machine. They may allow Valve to put some mods up for download but in that case they might as well send them to MS as downloadable content. They are not going to open the machine up to third-party mods uploaded by the user community.

I would never suggest that mods be allowed without first being screened and tested by Valve or MS. I guess my point was that Valve has a history of supporting and encouraging the mod community, and perhaps this would lead to modded levels or maps being introduced by resources outside Valve. I know perhaps that it is a bit of a pipe dream, but it provided longevity and sustained interest in HL long after its release. Who knows the port may end up not being worth the effort anyway.

Anyone remember Xbox Live 3.0 (Tsunami)?

QUOTE
MS Intros 'Tsunami' Tools for XBox Live Gamers
MS Watch, February, 2004 by Mary Jo Foley

MS plans to introduce over the course of this year a number of new features for its XBox Live gaming audience. Redmond is rolling the features out in the form of a suite of development tools, code-named "Tsunami." The tools will enable new community and content sharing features for Xbox Live gamers, the company says.

I vividly remember them showing a picture of some mapmaking thing as well. Granted, these features never made it, but the possibility is there, and was being worked on even on the original Xbox.

I'v played HL2 through 3 times on my PC and I'm still playing through episode 1 (trying to savour it and have been for about a month now) I'll quite happily part with my hard earned cash for a 360 version. I get to play through one of the best games of all time again and get points for doing it!

Wasn't this announced a couple of weeks ago though? I remember reading about the episode 2 and portal content.

It will and it's official.
The Portals thing didn't sound like much to me but after watching the trailer that explains what the game will be like, I'm pretty excited about its possibilities.

It definately looks interesting since I love puzzle based adventure games.
This puts a new spin on the FPS genre. pop.gif
