So I wanted to upgrade my hard drive on my softmodded xbox and everything went good until I tried to load my unleashx dashboard. After the Microsoft flubber screen and the X on the screen, the screen is just blank. I don't even get an error code. Everything installed correctly in the copy of files, I locked it and everything. I know the drive is still good, because when a game is already in the xbox, it'll play the game. It even found my game saves. Just won't load any dashboard. I tried L+R+Back+Black, still nothin. What do I do to get the dashboard up?

It might help if you could tell us what procedure you used to upgrade the harddisk.

What color is your eject button when it is showing you the black screen?

Do you see the Microsoft logo under the X after the flubber screen?

The problem might be caused by some files who didn't copy properly to the C partition.
Not turning off the shadowc before the C is copied is also a frequently made mistake.

regards.

I used the method in this thread
Method of my softmod

The eject button stays green during startup and gameplay(all the time)

I do see the Microsoft logo under the X after the flubber screen.

ShadowC was on the whole time while the files were being copied.

if you used NDURE
3.0 or 3.1 and the LED does NOT turn yellow it's a font problem or ernie.xtf can't find NKPatcher (C:\bios\bios.xbe) or incorrect C:\xboxdash.xbe was used

I used NDURE 3.0, the eject button has never turned yellow. It has both the files you are talking about.

As I told before, you probably have some files missing on your C partition due to the disk being full.

I had this issue because I had upgraded my dashboard with a modchip and a Slayers disk. The old dashboard had left some stuff in the C partition. Due to that, xboxhdm couldn't copy all the files. If I used the xboxhdm file browser, the filenames were there, but the length of the files was 0 bytes.

So I deleted the filler image files in the shadowc folder and copied the missing files over manually. After that, you can try to copy the filler files over again. There purpose is to fill up the partition so that a dashboard update becomes impossible.

regards.

What files will need deleted? Shadowc.img? Is it possible for me to delete these filler files, make another cd without these files, and retry to build a hard drive from scratch? If it is possible, how do I format the drive? Do I simply just unlock it, and use option 5 to delete all the files?

It's impossible to tell what files are missing from your C drive, so why not start afresh? Get clean msdash ver 5960 files from Slayer's 2.7 or CASH 1.1 disc. Put these in your xboxhdm disc under C folder. In Ndure folder, use the files Kingroach Ndure 3.1 generated. Do a rebuild of C drive followed by xbrowser invocation of ndure.htm. You'll need to unlock the hdd before that of course.
