Can't Read Disc/freeze On Backup Games Ms28, backups only work for few mins Options

Okay so i finally flashed the MS28 with dosflash using the hacked .bin that jungleflasher created. I threw in a backup game of MK vs DCU. It worked fine until about 20 minutes into the game..it froze on the loading screen. So i reset and the game and it froze before it got to the main screen of MK vs DCU. It keeps doing that from here on whenever i try. So then i thought maybe its the nexxtech cheap disc i'm using. I went and bought memorex discs and created a backup of Rainbow 6 vegas. I burnt this game at 1x speed. The game was fine..played it for about 20 mins and then when it was loading the next level it threw up the "can't read disc" and told me to try cleaning it. I can play rainbow 6 for a few minutes at a time then it throws that message every time.

So then i think my DVD drive is going bad. I tried out the original i have of GTA 4 and it works perfect..played it for about an hour and didn't freeze or throw the message.

So I don't think it could be my drive..or could it?

other threads i have read some people state that the firmware wasn't flashed correctly and to re-flash it. I don't know about doing that because you would think if it was a badflash/misflash then the dvdrom would not work or even load up the backup games.


I am using ixtreme 1.6 and my xbox dash is NXE (i dont know if that has anything to do with it.)

I'm real confused so if anyone has any ideas please help.

Use verbatim media for your backups. You could always use your retail copy and install it to the hard drive, then use the backup to boot the game.

so you think its a media issue?
is memorex really that bad? I thought it was good.

Verbatim is always the best media to use, but make sure it is the 'Made in Singapore' kind, not the 'Made in India' kind. The Indian ones tend to coaster a lot =/

Tired of typing that yet? Verbatim is the only brand anyone should use! They last the longest and I still haven't had a single one coaster on me yet, in 2 years!

If you're console still freezes with the Verbs, then your laser is weak and dying. You'll need to order a new one off of eBay, or pot tweak it. Pot tweaking it is really only a temp fix. but sometimes you get lucky and the temp lasts for a couple months.

Make sure you burn with the verbatim disc at 2.4x or lower if you want to.

i did the pot tweak within limits. reads the disc's a whole lot better.
