I am new to the whole thing as well. I keep hearing about Maximus 79 passkey and criticism of NME 2 for some reason. I really dont understand why.
For me i'm leaning towards NME 2.0 because i have a Hitachi 79fk drive and dont want to have to go thru the additional hassle of sata card and firmware flashing. apparently with nme 2 its just solder on the modchip and you're done whereas infectus and maximus you not only have to do that but get the sata and flash firmware. I get the impression nme 2 is safer but i'm sure many here will say none of them is safe.
Again i am seriously leanign towards nme 2 because it seems like less hassles. thepunisher has one and hasnt had any probs.
one major reason people criticise the NME 2.0 is you will get banned if you go on xbox live where if you do the passkey then flash and remove the passkey you will be pretty safe playing backups on live, all though there is still a chance you could get banned.

What is the best option to choose out of the 3? I just want to play back-ups of my originals, nothing else. Also, mind the fact that I have no SATA card, Samsung DVD drive, SATA cord for the flashing. So price isn't a factor in choosing a modchip or flashing. Also, if I choose to flash the firmware, what happens when the 360 wants to update? (Or is this just flashing the DVD drive's fw?) Another question I have is, if I choose to get a modchip instead, is there any updates I have to do after its installed?
Thanks for the help.
what kind of drive is in your 360?
