hi there guys, here's my story.

a couple of weeks ago my hitachi v79 with ix1.51 started to give the "dirty disc error" while playing both backups and originals. i had a spare brand new laser so i removed the old one and installed the new one.
after i installed it i tried to run both backup and originals and it keep saying "open tray" after a few seconds i insert the dvd. i looked for some remedy and found some on youtube, tried almost all of them (except the one where you glue a plastic piece in the laser to help pushing the stick that activate the motor).

that was the long story, the short one is that if a put a dvd in my drive it doesn't even spin but i can hear the laser move back and forth two-three times, and between each time there are two beeps but i have no idea what they stand for.

i also put back the old laser, in case it was new one's fault, but same happened... "open tray error".

what else may i try? maybe it's time i get a TOSHIBA SAMSUNG TS-H943 MS-28? i would leave this option as last.

Check if the drive spindle is seized. Very common.

what do you mean by seized? i already took apart the motor and clean the inside, if that's what you meant.

Does it spin freely without resistance?

When you put the motor back in did you make sure you set the motor height correctly. The silver screws are between 1-2 turns loose normally.

is that the same for a benq? because i am in a very similar situation with one. i believe it is a motor problem because i did a case mod and spun it up a few times with the magnet not lining up right. I just have stock case on for now, but it slowly started getting worse and worse until nothing played.
