Does anyone have any ideas? Or have there been any leaps forward cracking the cube? Thanks

Not much progress has been made or if it has its not been made public. There were some rumblings about some of the games being dumped but I think that turned out to be false. I have read that the panasonic version of the GC will be the most likely canadite for the cracking since it plays normal dvds and cd's. Time will tell but im sure they will get it even if you need something to attach to the GC like the old Z64 and such for the N64.

That would be my guess as well.. I had a MultiGameDoctor for my SNES/Genesis that was a floppy that plugged into the cartridge slot, and a DocV64 for my N64 that plugged into the DD port on the bottom.. I see on my GC there are extra ports on it as well that a backup device could be plugged into.. we will see if someone developes for it.. Wouldnt it be nice to plug in a HD and just dump games to it like the Xbox?

Sorry, sold it years ago with my Genesis.. dont even know where to find one, tried doing a search but no luck. It was made by the same people that made the DocV64 (that one I still have), Bung Enterprises, but I dont think they are around since the big N shut them down during the Docv64 run.

its all proprietary hardware -

you'd not only need to figure how to break encryption on cube itself, but find a good supplier of mini dvd's

FUCKMS: MGD2's are near to impossible to find, and would cost you an arm and a leg. If you just want to do SNES, look around for the SuperUFO. I have one and love it.

It lacks a parallel port, so you have to do the games via floppy disks, and is only 32mbit - so no Tales of Phantasia, but everything else I've tried plays great on it. SuperFX/DSP1 support if you have an original SFX/DSP cart in the slot.. Built in GameGenie/Goldfinger/AR codes.. HiRom/LoRom/FastRom/SloRom, no compatibility errors.. Basically plays everything but Tales of Phantasia (wan't worth 400$ to me for a 64bit machine for the sake of one game). Only thing I wish it had was parallel port to load roms from PC faster.. But I even wrote a little app for myself to fix/split games, format 1.68 floppies, and copy them automagically, so it's all coo...

I got mine at www.superufo.com, but I see them on some other gaming sites as well.

Emulation is fine and good.. But there's nothing like playing the orignal smile.gif

as of a few weeks ago, i believe a company has started development on a gamecube crack...ever since the release of the game boy player for the cube i believe...sorry i dont have the url...anyways...lemme explain:

there is this little device that plugs into the game boy player's game cartridge slot thingy and then a wire comes out of the cartridge to a small cd reader compatible to read dvds, cube cds and normal cdr/cd media...the device will also be able to play burned games...the only catch...you need the game boy player (due for release in march) and this mod which rumours say will cost almost as much as the gamecube...but hey...if it really does what it says and cracks the code for burned games...it well worth it in my eyes!

Only good games for GC would be Metroid Prime and the Resident Evil series...not enough to make me buy it..

Many have said the only good game for XBOX is Halo - but you bought it, right?

It's all subjective. I don't care what console a game is for if it's good. And while some would spend 150$ buying a huge HDD to put in their XBOX, I spent it on GameCube.

I have to agree with Knuck3ls on this one. Although I did buy a GC for Metroid Prime, Rouge Leader 2 and pre-ordered Zelda with the bonus disks. I was also kinda digging Mario Sunshine until I got to some sort of jumping obstical course. Then I handed the controller over to my girlfriend and never laid eyes on the game again.
