hey there guys.

well im planning on making up a new case for my xbox. plans are big, but whether or not they will eventuate is still debatable.

im posting this thread becasue i would like to share my ideas, and get any feeback from whoever wants to contribute.

im on a very money limited budget (16y.o. who hasnt snagged a job jet), so dont expect thigs to hurry along too fast.

basically, i wanted to have two hard drives in my xbox. the idea of mounting them side by side in the xbox just sounds too hard, and im never keep on hacking up my xbox. so the logical choice is a new case.

i have a lot of plans, like having underglow, four X windows in the top of the case, window vents on the side, and some trickery on thr front.

i have decided that the case will most likely be painted black, have either white plexiglass or some very lightly tinted colour for the windoes, chrome coloured screws, and a blue and white led colour scheme.

i am also planning on having a lit up switch at the front for hard drive selection, and also port the on/off/restet buttons from the xbox.

ill post the images ive made up so far when theyre on the server

sorry about the big pics...i didnt realise they were that large

just wanted to mention: there will be controlle rport status lights for each controller / usb port (teh diagram trys to show that there will eb a controlelr and a usb port for each controller port). it will be blue when nothign is in, and green when something is plugged in.

teh biggest problem with that is i have to electrically isolate the controller ports from the rest of the case, and im not sure how to do that and still have it strong enough to have controllers and use deviced plugged in and out all the time.

and obviously you cant have a usb device and a controller plugged in at the same time and they work......i think i can remember reading a thread or tut on hooking up a relay or something that disconencts one when soemthing else is plugged in. i think its used mainly for hardwired ir recievers.

thanks for the encouragement.

dads a technician and an all round handy man...so with a bit of help from him, i cant see why it wont work.

as i said, the hardest part, i think, will be making up the custom trays for the dvd and hard drive, and the brackets for the controller/usb ports.

i dont think i mentioned that.

yes, the case will be made up of two sheets of steel (probably 1 or 1.5mm), folded up.

we dont have anything here to get a very good edge with when folding it, so ill probably get the place to fold it up for me. i dont think they will cost too much. i should be able to get there in the next week or so to get a quote
