so i'm trying to get youtube to play on my xbmc. i downloaded the newest version of xbmc from xbins (not really xbins but an ftp xbins pointed me to), put it on my xbox and loaded it up. i went to the scripts, found the youtube script and it looked like it was working fine. i went to the user videos section and entered the name of my favorite guitar lesson teacher (JustinSandercoe). it found all of his videos and listed them all out.... but then i selected one and nothing happened. i was still able to scroll through the videos, but all of the other buttongs on my controller stopped working, and i had to reboot.
that is about all the info i can give. does anyone have any idea why this is happening? i stream videos from my computer to my 360 all the time and it works fine, so i doubt there is a network problem outside of the xbox itself.

any help would be great. really sorry if this is a newb question, please don't get mad tongue.gif

If you hold X+Y when XBMC loads, it'll go into debug mode. Try and play your video as before, and if it crashes, restart and grab a copy of the log file generated in your XBMC folder (xbmc.old.log). That'll contain some information as to what went wrong.

that's not a debug log and you must have a q: drive

Q: is a virtual drive which points to your XBMC folder.

If you don't load XBMC in debug mode, you don't get a debug log.

I'm having a similar problem... using script "YouTube2 0.93", on XBMC build 9-11-07
When streaming, I will get the first 20 seconds or so of the video, then it just stops. IDE and network indicator LEDs are still on, but no video. XBMC does not freeze, just the stream. I run my PC on the same switch as my xbox, and I can view the same video without any problems at all. What gives?
Here's my debug output:

Edit the default.py script by replacing

self.player = xbmc.Player(xbmc.PLAYER_CORE_DVDPLAYER)

with

self.player = xbmc.Player(xbmc.PLAYER_CORE_MPLAYER)

and it will work fine

Yeesh... I can't find a new YouTube script?
My current one will load lists of videos, but not play them - not locking, just returns back to the list. dry.gif

I browsed around Xbins... didn't find it.
The XBMC folder points to a mirror, so I connected to that and browsed around... didn't find it.

WTF? am I that blind?
Or is it not on Xbins? blink.gif

I just downloaded the most recent entire copy of XBMC (I feel a little foolish since all I needed was the YouTube script really), and it turns out the most recent version is 1.8a in there...

Which is the version that I have loaded on my Xbox blink.gif which doesn't work.

And, it doesn't contain the
self.player = xbmc.Player(xbmc.PLAYER_CORE_DVDPLAYER)
line.

Help? huh.gif
