I had my console modded recently with the X3 I had a 320GB hdd that was not lockable and prevented me from playing online. Well I decided to use a 80GB HDD to play online and then swap the HDD and use the 320GB for games. So yesterday I got a new account and played about 4 matches online (chip off) and then I went offline swapped the HDD played Doom 3 on System Link (never went Live since there is no internet) then today I hook the other HDD back up and when I go online it gives me the "Modified Xbox Error" and I am like wtf? the chip is off and the 80GB HDD is clear it hasnt been modified at all!!

I have read around... if I put back the stock HDD will that work?

yeah that's my story there are plenty more like these but what the hell... grr.gif

Have you played on live with this xbox prior to modding it say with the orginal harddrive that came with the xbox if you have there is a marrage theory where M$ takes the serial of your harddrive and motherboard and put the 2 togeather so if you were ever to change the hard drive then they would know about it..... So im thinking this is what you have done just took em abit to notice lookin like you may need a new eeprom or a new xbox to get back onto live sad.gif

No, I never went online with it. I have a modded Xbox (TSOP) that has a virgin EEPROM which I can extract from it and put it in the new one but, I just don't want this shit happening again =(

Thanks for the response blind42

Most likely you played a live enabled game that tried connecting and got you banned, especially if you aren't using a live blocking bios.

Actually, now if you want to play on live again, you'll have to switch the eeprom, put in a new harddrive ( since your 80 gig has been flagged) and you'll need a brand new gamertag. Its a real pain in the ass I know.

If you use a virgin STOCK HD and the virgin EEPROM you don't need to get a new Gamertag.
