Ok So I literally just bought a 360 from compusa (i work there) and i got the 2 year warrenty from them just so if something happens I can just got get another one
but I have MANY MANY QUESTIONs

First of all......what is the exact date that xbox 360's were shipped. i know the tag on mine says 11/21.....Im assuming of this year.
Does that make it one of the later models?
and Has MS fixed the whole heating issue with them? or not really. I mean i've looked online and it seems like alot of people are having problems? so is it more of the overheat issue? or just disc scratching issue. and it really like 20% of people are having them. or are people overreacting. and it's more like 1-2%?

and I mean around when did MS start fixing the issue?
and I also know the just now extended the thing to one year. Is there something I need to register.....cause How else do they know when i bought it?

I am mainly concerned with the 360......and I mean i've been playing it. it gets warm......but i mean it's not super hot. and I havent had any glitches or anything. so im assuming it's going to be ok. but I just am wondering how bad the situation is. I mean......I dont want the 360 to be like a crappy console ya know?

Also..is there any way to tell when my 360 was made. thx

ok, for starters, overheating is not an 'issue' with the console. It gets hot (like any top en pc), and its needs air. is the console and power brick is placed with a reasonable amount of air around them, you will not and never will have a problem.

those that have overheating consoles palce them in 'entertainment units' that have no venting or airflow.

I agree with the previous poster, the heat "issue" is not a big problem. Yes, some people encounters it, but its far less than 20%. I dont have any numbers ofc but I would gess a few percent at max. Make sure your console is placed in a good spot (not inside a small cabinet with closed glass doors or something) and you should be fine.

As a precation I also placed my powersupply on the floor behind my TV bench, and not actually on a shelf inside it, to make it less warm in the bench and not help heat the air around my 360.

my 360 is standing vertical on a shelf with not much around it. and the power brick is free standing in the air. never had a heating problem and i doubt i ever will

overheating can happen. even if you are extra careful with where you put the console and power brick. If your 360 is defective, it will happen. That is why you got the two year warranty. I had mine for 6 months wil no problems at all and I was super cautious. Then one day, BAM! 3 red lights. no warning or freezing or anything. that is why I had the extended warranty. There is nothing you can do to stop it really. There are plenty of people who have launch consoles with no problems at all. It is hit and miss. Kinda like the Colts getting passed the 1st round in the playoffs. jester.gif

Oh yeah I made sure to keep mine in open air. it's literally just kinda sitting on our carpet.

but I mean......it's not something that happens to a ton of people right. and they still have done some work to fix it.

and the freezing thing. does that kinda go hand and hand with the overheating thing I assume
and yeah my power brick is in total open air.

but yeah got 2yr extended warrenty at compusa where I work. and what Im gonna do is when the new xbox 360 comes out. ill just say mine is overheating

and bam.....new xbox 360.....i lose 25 bucks (it's 70 for normal people)
but yea :-D

but I shouldnt worry as long as I keep it in open air. and the newer ones are better but either way it doesnt happen to many people ?

DUDE! never put ANY console on your carpet....you're just asking for heat issues. Im speaking from experience, that carpet traps heat and just sends it back into the console.

Its like 10% noise if theres no game, 20-30% if a game is in the drive, and like 50-60% when playing, but you don't really notice it unless you listen for it, and your tv is turned down wink.gif i don't know what people complain about. huh.gif

ok, that is not an overheating issue. if it was, you could leave it off for an hour or so and turn it back on and it would be fine. If it allways has the 3 red lights, then it is another issue

yeah, they can be a bit loud when playing a game. but i suppose that goes hand in hand with the amount of data that need to come off the drive every second.

Retail fraud is illegal and the discussion of such matters is not permitted on this site.

Had you read the rules of this site or the sticky @ the top of this forum you would know that.

I will quote it for you as common sense seems to elude you:

Posts Advocating Fraud

Do not make any posts advising/ advocating Fraud. Do not post advising or asking how to return goods and dishonestly attempt to obtain a warranty repair or replacement if you have voided the warranty by tampering with or opening the casing on a console.
