Ok I just wanted to get a thread started of all the compatible chipsets or pci cards people have used to get their drives detected and dump/flash their firmware.

Please post any findings as you go.

Yea, same here. I have the nforce 4 chipset and was able to flash firmware. Also, the drive shows up in the bios. But windows will NOT recognize it. My TSH943 is the MS25 FW. I have tried every possbile thing I know as far as rebooting with 360 on, off etc... If I try to cold start the PC with the 360 on, it hangs at the winxp loading screen. If I try restart with the 360 on, it hangs at shutdown, WTF grr.gif . If anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it. And yes, I used the NF4 patched mtkflash.

if it helps anyone i found this post from another forum...

Ill just like to mention anyone with via & promise sata controller

in order for it to work, unplug all other sata drives, the sata boot mode needs to be IDE not RAID - and via SATA BOOT ROM must be disabled, finally the disc drive must be connected to a via port not promise.

my sata controller doesnt have the option of boot rom... i havent got mine to work its a VT8237

Look at the chip on the motherboard, it should have #'s on it.

========================================

Ok everyone, I put up the beginning of a compat list at the XBH forums... The VAST majority of actual technical information is there, so it seemed to be the most appropriate place...

I'm not sure if I can post a link to another forum, and don't want to get banned after all these years over something stupid, so go to the xboxhacker forums and find the post titled "TS-H943 SATA Compatability List & Tips" if you are interested...

YES THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I tried for two hours I pulled out all the ide devices, tried all the sata ports etc etc and always device hadware error etc.

I didnt even think the VIA ports would be active when the VIA chipset is disabled in bios!

I'd like to add a further note to your help (this is for my Asus K8V SE Deluxe), the Firewire port 1394 has to be Enabled or the promise device will not be enabled even though the option says it is. If the firewire is disabled the promise bios screen will not load during boot. I didnt try if this actually affects the process tho.

Also it took at least three or four 0-100% runs for it to finish, like 30 seconds but it did! And I had my HDD connected too to IDE secondary master.

I have tested 2 via chipsets ok, 8237 and 8237r, both need to have sata raid disabled and need to boot without the drive connected, power on 360 then plug sata cable in when you have a dos prompt from boot floppy, mtkflash sees them sweet, same for windows, boot windows from sata hdd then plug dvd in when windows booted, device manager picks it up and presto!

Thanks

UK Xbox360 w/ TS ODD
Shuttle ST20G5 / Xpress 200 Chipset

SATA Chipset A: VIA VT6421A (Settled for this as the 'L' version isn't available in the UK)
After eagerly waiting for this to turn up all week I installed it only to find its incompatible with the ST20G5 motherboard (wont boot at all).

SATA Chipset B: ULi M1573 (This is the Shuttle ST20G5 onboard SATA Controller)
Sweet as a nut! Used Xtreme Boot Maker to prep my USB Flash Drive with X360SAM and Xtreme 3.3 Firmware. Perfect!

Many thanks to all the guys and gals who've contributed!
