Hi, I currently have a zephyr console, which is basically a core console with no hdd. I have a spare 160gb Hitachi 2.5" SATA her that came from an old msi netbook. Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction if I can use this as a hdd, I have the wiring sussed but just need to know if I need any special programs to prep the hdd or can it just be formatted and put in place?
Thanks, Scott.

You can't use that hard drive in a stock console. Xbox 360 drives contain a security sector which is paired to an individual drive. It is possible to use some limited models of hard drives in 360 consoles using a program called hddhacker, but your drive cannot be used for such processes.

He means that you Hitachi is not compatible with the .bin files available for the 360 HDDs. usually you need a WD to do the work.

Yes, that's quite right. Thanks for clarifying the point.

Just to throw this in there. If the console is Jtagged or reset glitched it will accept any HDD no-matter the brand or size.

Indeed, since when you JTag it, you get an open platform environment basically smile.gif
