| QUOTE (counter terrorist dan @ Aug 14 2004, 10:11 PM) | I tried formatting with the 'raw command', don't efel very confident i did it right. It gave me this message my second try:
Formatpath \Device\Harddisk0\Partition1 500 Syntax error, command unrecognized or malformed
I don't have the first clue what to give for raw commands, i just kind of guessed at what it said. I still don't understand the reason for using evolution x for anything..
if someone could tell me exactly what to give for raw commands, it would be excellent, and also, am i supposed to have the E drive on my Xbox highlighted for the raw commands? Or am i supposed to highlight the backup of the E drive on my computer and give that raw commands? |
You must give this raw command to the ftp server built into evox, not to the one in XBMC or Ava or the Xenium (etc)
If you still get a problem, ensure that you're running a modern version of evox (say... the latest)

Hello everyone. This is my first post and I signed up to specifically reply to this thread. I just bought my XBox and a week later got the Xenium ICE in the mail. I recently upgraded my harddrive using the OS2 beta feature which proved to be very very simple and I recommend using it (however I had to use my desktop computer cables to power up the second drive temporarily). I'm using UnleashX as my dashboard and came across the same issues in this thread (games freezing right after the opening credits which appear to be the result of a bug with OS2's drive upgrade feature). Nobody mentioned anything about how to format the E: drive using UnleashX. Its WAY simpler than anything documented in this thread. If you're using UnleashX, simply goto the menu called "Format Menu". The password for this feature can be found in the config.xml file on your C: drive but by default its "Xbox" and is case sensitive. Once you're in just select Format E: and confirm and in less than a minute you're formated and ready to copy your backup files back to your E: drive. I formatted my F: drive to just for good measure. Hope this helps for someone. Jeff. This post has been edited by Van_Koo_Ver: Aug 18 2004, 04:22 PM

| QUOTE (carlosian @ Aug 22 2004, 07:47 PM) | how the hell do you do this? maybe i've read this wrong but does this mean that you have to use the ftp client to format your e drive?
i've never been able to do this with flashfxp
sorry for being such a noob. i would like help formating the e drive
thanks |
Well, I havne't used FlashFXP in a long time, so I can't tell you exactly how to do it, but yes, you use your ftp client to tell evox to format the HD.
The way you do this is to connect to your xbox, while evox is running, and then send a raw command to the xbox, the "FormatPartition" command.
So, you need to find out how to send raw commands with FlashFXP (read the manual, ask them, ask someone else... etc)

anyone knows of guides or tutorials that show how to do this? what ftp program did you use to format the e drive while evoX is on?
