QUOTE(ThaCrip @ Jun 11 2011, 06:30 AM) i assume Samsung drives won't be needing a v2.0+ firmware since it can't support AP25 to begin with?
so basically the v1.9 LT firmware will just update so that it's in line with the XDG3 disc support and then ill be fine into the foreseeable future, correct?
Incorrect Although sammy drives do not have AP2.5 support the LT+ 1.9 Firmware will only bring it inline with the new stock Firmware as per the Spring Update, XGD3 support will not be included in this release. LT+ v2.0 will be released for sammy drives with support for XGD3 disks. This post has been edited by tech-basement: Jun 11 2011, 06:40 AM

you just said it yourself basically, which is in line with what i am saying... which is basically, the way i am understanding it is... the v1.9 update is basically taking the firmware from Microsoft that's on a Samsung drive from the recent update (which i am pretty sure the whole purpose of that WAS FOR XDG3 support so it won't have issues with games that use the extra 1GB of storage etc (because that was the point of the update was that it could support future games that use 1GB of extra space, right?)) and then patching in the already current LT v1.0 firmware routines basically. so if the AP25 support is hardware related, i don't even think Samsung drives would need another update past v1.9 since prior to the spring update Samsung drives running LT v1.0 firmware already worked perfectly fine. can anyone confirm this or am i wrong? Again, Incorrect lol 1.9 will not have XGD3 support it is just a new firmware based on the new stock layout... I have attached a screenshot of a very popular update site straight from the main man himself (C4Eva) as to better explain myself as I think we are getting our wires crossed a bit This post has been edited by tech-basement: Jun 11 2011, 07:38 AM

QUOTE(Blade732 @ Jun 11 2011, 07:36 AM) Not to sound like a broken record, but what of old school Hitachi users? (47,59, etc.) I know they don't support AP 2.5, what did that dude in the chat mean when he said it Hitachi's wouldn't be inclusive? Are they not going to see a LT 2.0 update? =X
Not required at all. So far the Spring update has not affected any Hitachi Drives Edit: Just realised you meant Hitachi SLIM drives lol. C4Eva doesn't seem to have started work on that as of yet it seems he has been concentrating on Phat & Slim LiteOn and Phat BenQ first. Although he isn't branding Slim Hitachi 0500 firmware as a v1.9 or a v2.0 release there will definitely be a firmware release in the works. Its only Hitachi's in the Phat models that won't be receiving any updates whatsoever due to a lack of hardware support for AP2.5 and XGD3 This post has been edited by tech-basement: Jun 11 2011, 08:35 AM

QUOTE(tech-basement @ Jun 11 2011, 10:30 AM) which model liteon do you have? is it a slim model or a phat model mate?
Er pass, I've got the drive key dumped with a log from Jungle flasher (I didn't do the dump) that, can I see what from that? All I saw that made sense from the log was DG-16D2S and other numbers. To look at its got 2 yellow wires in the front hole. Is that enough, if not there must be info in that log but I didn't post it as its fairly long. Slight edit: Its an Elite console about a year old, does that help, I presumed the slim drives were in recent models? This post has been edited by Mclane: Jun 11 2011, 11:33 AM

Why are people whining about the price of this thing, really for the cost of just a bit more than one game, they have a "fix" for you. Just cracks me up, people acting like they are asking a fortune for it, it is $15 more than one new game.
Spoiled by the nature of this firmware modification, has been virtually free up to this point, and now going to cost a few of you a couple of bucks and all I see are posts about how high the price is. Meh, don't buy it, stay off live, or update your dash and you have to buy games anyway, so I just do not get the complaining at all.

People will complain, can't please everyone... But I agree with what you're saying 100%
